Aero Revolution

Before we go any further … we need to talk about the Aero Mid-Point Trajectory.

The logic is straight forward, more time from the centre point to turn towards the target. The Aero midpoint arc is made possible by the state-of-the-art manufacturing process that ensures complete consistency and incredible accuracy which can be seen on the greens.

I’ve been playing indoor bowls with a set of Aero Revolutions for the last three months and they certainly do not follow the trajectory that is claimed. In my opinion the line is much more akin to something like Henselite’s Tiger Pro, although the final line into the jack is probably a little straighter.

That said, I think the Revolution might possibly be the best bowl I have played with indoors.

Size 4 – Aero Revolution – Dentation Grip

The Aero Revolution is a wider-drawing, mid-bias bowl designed primarily for indoor surfaces and fast, competitive outdoor greens

It has a predictable line (although maybe not the Harbour Bridge claim) and minimal weight requirements. Ideal for back end play indoors, offering a consistent, controllable line. I suspect this might be an ideal bowl for front end play outdoors. I’ll find out in a couple of months

The Revolution offers more swing than the Aero Profile but less than the Maxim, and marginally less than the Groove.

Some say it feels “slimmer in the hand”, and they are available with various grip options like the Z Scoop, which is designed for comfort and consistent alignment.

The Dentation grips on my bowls make for a wonderful grip; I’m a big fan.

I really like this bowl.

Here come the spoiler.
Aero no longer makes the Revolution.

In March 2016 Aero announced the addition of the Quantum to the UK Aero range. The Quantum was introduced as an improved and updated version of the successful Revolution, the oldest Aero model in the UK.

The Quantum sits in between the Profile and the Groove following feedback that the bias of the Revolution was closer to the Groove.

So if you want a set of Revolutions you’re looking at the used/second hand market (as I did).

Aero Revolution Key Features and Performance:

  • Trajectory: Known for a unique, consistent “Harbour Bridge” trajectory that is highly predictable.
  • Versatility: Ideal for a wide range of conditions, particularly popular on faster indoor surfaces but capable outdoors.
  • Consistency: Aero guarantees that every set of Revolution bowls has the same, accurate line.
  • Grip & Feel: Available with Aero’s specialized grips (like the Trident or Zig Zag) which enhance hold, often allowing players to use a slightly larger size.
  • Weight & Sizes: Available in a full range of half-sizes.

Usage & Target Audience:

  • Position: Suitable for all positions, but often preferred by competitive players for its reliable, medium-draw line.
  • Comparison: Offers a similar, if not slightly more direct, line compared to the Henselite Tiger Pro or Drakes Professional.
  • Legacy: While it has been largely superseded by newer models like the Quantum and Evolve, the Revolution remains a highly respected, high-performance bowl in the second-hand market.
